PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve efficiency of forming, heating, and softening of a solid plug by applying a temperature control means to the tip part of a nozzle in a metal forming machine, and to prevent the leakage of molten material when the nozzle is retreated by performing a nozzle retreating control from the temperature in the tip part of the nozzle. SOLUTION: The tip part of the nozzle 23 which is held to a melt keeping temperature, is abutted to a cooled metallic mold 24 and the molten metallic material is injected into the metallic mold from this nozzle 23 and the mold is filled with the material. The temperature control means 30 is applied to the surrounding of the nozzle tip part, on which the metallic material remains as the solid plug 31 by abutting to the metallic mold 24, and the temperature of the nozzle tip part can be changed by the temperature control means 30. The temperature of the nozzle tip part is calculated by comparing it with the pre-set plug forming temperature before retreat operation of the nozzle, and when this calculated value is in the permissible range of the plug forming temperature, the retreat of the nozzle from the metallic mold is permitted. Then, when this value is out of the permissible range, the retreat of the nozzle is permitted after adjusting the temperature to be in the permissible range. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
