<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an arteriostenosis examination apparatus for determining the presence of stenosis in an upper limb artery. <P>SOLUTION: This examination apparatus comprises a left upper arm blood pressure measuring device for measuring the left upper arm blood pressure on the left upper arm 16, a right upper arm blood pressure measuring device for measuring the right upper arm blood pressure on the right upper arm 12, and a left/right upper limb blood pressure ratio calculation means 78 for calculating the left/right upper limb blood pressure ratio BBI, the ratio of the left upper arm maximum blood pressure BPL<SB>SYS</SB>measured by the left upper arm blood pressure measuring device to the right upper arm maximum blood pressure BPR<SB>SYS</SB>measured by the right upper arm blood pressure measuring device. If there is a stenosis on a left or right upper limb artery, the maximum blood pressure on the upper arm with stenosis is reduced, and therefore, the blood pressure ratio BBI calculated by the left/right upper limb blood pressure ratio calculation means 78 is significantly smaller than 1 if there is a stenosis in either left or right upper limb artery. Accordingly, the presence of the arteriostenosis in the upper limb artery such as an arteria subclavia can be diagnosed based on the left/right upper limb blood pressure ratio BBI calculated by the left/right upper limb blood pressure ratio calculation means 78. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
