PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas combustion device provided with a gas flow rate control valve of such type that a valve element is operated by a stepping motor and enabling use of the gas flow rate control valve for a plurality of types of gases in common. SOLUTION: The gas flow rate control valve capable of obtaining the maximum capacity (the maximum input) at predetermined number of steps S in reference gas is used by using the gas having the lowest unit heat generation amount as the reference gas among types of gases whose use as fuel gas is scheduled in a controller of the gas combustion device (see Fig. 3 (a)). Unit heat generation amount of use gas supplied actually is compared with unit heat generation amount of the reference gas to change an excitation system of the stepping motor and change a drive amount of the stepping motor per step so that heat generation amount per step becomes the same based on the ratio (see Fig. 3 (b)).
