The invention relates to a method and a device for comparing n parameter strings, each parameter containing m parameters and said m parameters being combined according to a predefined rule to form parameter combinations. According to said method, a first value is assigned to each parameter combination according to a predefined first valuation rule and the result of said valuation rule corresponds to a physical characteristic that can be measured. The combination of the m parameters of the nm parameter strings forms an n-dimensional matrix and part of said n-dimensional matrix corresponds to a matrix constructed from arithmetic-logic units. Said arithmetic-logic units carry out the creation of the parameter combinations with a valuation, can be identical or different for n and m and represent a number greater than 1. In addition, the invention relates to a device for carrying out said method, comprising a processor and a hardware accelerator for parallel data processing, said accelerator being used to implement an additional command or command data record, which is not contained in the command data record of the processor, for carrying out the steps of the inventive method and comprising a memory, which is coupled to the processor. The inventive method and device are used in particular for designing and selecting primers during the selection and determination of oligonucleotide sequences and material characteristics and during database comparisons. |
