A D.C. motor 1 is supplied through a rectifierinverter 2 which is controlled by a phase-shift circuit 6 associated with an amplifier 7 having an integral-proportional action. This amplifier receives a reference current signal e which changes as a function of time to enable the rateof-change of armature current to be regulated. The amplifier 7 also receives a current signal es which is derived from detector 5 in the armature circuit and is smoothed by a device 8. An amplifier 9, having integral action, provides the signal e. An amplifier 10, having proportional action, detects the error between reference current Io and armature current signal Is, the error signal being smoothed and amplified for application to the amplifier 9. The value of the error signal at which the amplifier 10 saturates is adjustable to regulate the rate at which the armature current varies. |
