The invention relates to measuring the relief variations of an object and/or to the deformations of said object in the direction of the relief thereof (z). The inventive measuring device comprises an inclined optical projection means (10) for displaying the reference image of a rough plastering whose grains are pseudo-randomly distributed, and visualisation means (20) for obtaining the test image of the thus illuminated object. The position variations of the grains of the rough plastering between the test image and the reference image which represent the variations in the relief of the object are measured by correlation with the aid of comparison means.
