The arrangement has a polarization control element (PS) into which the optical polarization multiplex signal (S1) is fed and that is followed by a polarization beam divider (PST). At least one channel signal (KS1,KS2) has forward error correction (FEC) and at least one module (DECOD1,2) for controlling the polarization control element by decoding the forward error correction is connected to the output of the polarization beam divider. An independent claim is also included for the following: (a) an optical transmission system with an inventive arrangement.
