PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a main rope tensing apparatus with a hook by which a main rope can smoothly and reliably be stretched even when an obstacle exists near the engaging position of the hook. SOLUTION: A tensing apparatus A for holding the main rope L by engaging of a rope engaging body 7 is connected with the hook B by a connection tool C. The connection tool C comprises a rotating joint 30 and a connection ring 31, and the tensing apparatus A and the hook B are made to be relatively rotatable by the joint 30 to remove twisting of the rope L by the relative rotation. Further, the tensing apparatus A and the hook B can be bent in an optional direction by the connection ring 31 to smoothly and surely tense the rope L by preventing the tensing apparatus A and the rope L from forming an angle relatively by deforming the connection tool C along the outer periphery of the obstacle Y when there is the obstacle Y near the engaging position of the hook B.
