<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical packet header discrimination circuit simplified in configuration and improved in reliability, stability and economicity. <P>SOLUTION: The optical packet header discrimination circuit is composed of an optical waveguide 10, a converging means 15 and a photodetector 17 and inside the optical waveguide 10, a tilt diffraction grating 11 is formed for diffracting incident light 12 and radiating it as diffracted light 14 to the outside of the waveguide. The tilt diffraction grating is not uniform but grating groups are provided while being skipped. In the length of the diffraction grating group and a length in the portion without the grating group, L is defined as a unit, and the array of the tilt diffraction grating groups is matched with an address code applied in advance. The diffracted light 14 radiated to the outside of the waveguide by each tilt diffraction grating group is spatially integrated by the converging means 15 and temporally integrated by the photodetector 17. When the optical waveguide is made of an optical semiconductor material and composed of electrically independent electrode grating groups, a programmable header discrimination circuit is configured. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
