Each rail of the crash barrier is composed of a wood log (1) having over all its length and on one side a square mortise (1a) for receiving a rigidifying support element (2). The support element receives at each of its ends a connecting sleeve (4) which engages a rigidifying element of another log. The log is drilled vertically at each end for the engagement of assembly parts (5) cooperating with the rigidifying element and the sleeve. The section of each rigidifying element ensures the positioning and mounting of a head (3a) of fixing parts (3) which engage posts fixed in the ground and the pre-positioning of the log after fixing the element on the posts.
