The operating procedure for an i.c. engine with direct fuel injection has the injection carried out in two or more phases at different pressures. It can be in the form of main injection and postinjection phases, or pre-injection, main injection and post-injection phases, with the post-injection phase taking place at a lower pressure and starting at a point corresponding to a crankshaft angle of 10 - 180 degrees after the piston tdc position on the compression stroke. In addition, the postinjection phase can be in the form of a series of individual injections at different pressures. |
