A lighted display device (10) for use with a vehicle includes a pair of transparent spaced apart panes (12) held by a frame member (14) having opposed side walls (16) and a bottom wall (18). The upper edges of the panes (12) define an opening for the insertion or removal of a sign member (20) having indicia (21) indicative of the experience level or age of a driver or other message. The display device (10) further includes a plurality of light assemblies (22) having a light bulb (28) in a front portion (24) and a magnet (36) in a rear portion (26) for removably attaching the device (10) to the metallic surface of a vehcile. A spring loaded button member (40) protrudes from each rear portio (26) and includes a battery (48) that energizes a respective light bulb (28) when the button member (40) is depressed as the rear portion (26) is magnetically coupled to a metallic surface.
