Production of film ribbons comprises cutting an extruded film (3) into strips (7) with a cutter (6). The cut strips are drawn (12), and wound on to bobbins (23). Some of the cut film strips are separated into a sub-group (11), before bobbin winding (22), to be processed additionally by fibrillation (9) through a needle roller, and the fibrils are returned to the remaining cut strips, to be drawn together.
