PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for deciding the truth or falsehood of sheet paper or the like and its device capable of obtaining a higher elaborateness and making a correct answer rate close to 100% in a method for deciding the truth or falsehood of sheet paper or the like with light intervened. SOLUTION: In this method for deciding the truth or falsehood of sheet paper or like, wherein light by a light emitting element from one side is caused to emit to and transmit paper sheet or like traveled and carried along a carrying path from one side, a light receiving element of the other side receives the transmitted light of the light, and obtained data are compared with true data, a plurality of transparent light-transmitting resin members are provided laminatedly in front of the light receiving element, and light transmitting the sheet paper or the like is made to retransmit the light-transmitting resin members to be received by the light receiving element. In this device of deciding the truth or falsehood of the sheet paper or the like, wherein the light emitting element is disposed at one side and the light receiving element for receiving light transmitting the sheet paper or the like irradiated with light by the light emitting element is disposed at the other side while sandwiching the carrying path for traveling and carrying the sheet paper or the like, the plurality of transparent light- transmitting resin members are laminated on the light receiving element side along the carrying path.
