PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a image data generating/displaying device that can easily search for desired image data among a plurality of image data consecutively recorded on a video tape or the like. SOLUTION: The image data generating/displaying device is provided with; a video conversion section 5 that respectively reduces two or more data among a plurality of image data to which an identification number is respectively attached to identify the sequence of the image data written on the video tape and displays them together with the respective identification numbers substantially at the same time; an exclusive remote controller that enters a prescribed identification number among the displayed identification numbers; and a CPU 8 that retrieves corresponding image data by using a program search function on the basis of the entered identification number and selectively displays the retrieved image data.
