The invention according to Specification 1,020,999 is modified to allow the connecting members to be provisionally fitted to one of the pair of structures that are to be joined together. In the present arrangement the connecting member has a central portion 6 provided with a handle 10 and oppositely extending dowels 8<SP>1</SP>, 8<SP>11</SP> having locking sides (8b). Dowel 81 has a pair of parallel faces (8a) and the corresponding faces of dowel 8<SP>11</SP> each have two facets 8c, 8d, facets 8c extending parallel to faces (8a) of dowel 8<SP>1</SP> and facets 8d making an angle of from 5 to 20 degrees to the direction of facets 8c. In use, dowel 8<SP>1</SP> of a member is inserted into a groove of one structure and the member is turned until facets 8d are parallel to the sides of the groove. The member is thus provisionally fixed to the said one structure. In the embodiment described, the grooves are dove-tailed and the locking sides are correspondingly shaped. |
