摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflective liquid crystal display device having perpendicular alignment which is easily manufactured without requiring a rubbing treatment, regardless of fluctuation in manufacturing process, excellent in brightness and color purity even in a liquid crystal mode of amorphous TN(twisted nematic), etc., and excellent in a viewing angle, in which a wide viewing angle mode and a narrow viewing angle mode are easily switched one after the other, a method of manufacturing the same, and a method of driving the same. SOLUTION: A transparent substrate 203 is disposed opposite a first substrate 207 so that a liquid crystal layer 204 is sandwiched between them. The transparent substrate 203 is disposed so as to be in front of the first substrate 207 with respect to a direction of incident light. A 1/4 wavelength plate 202 is disposed on a transparent substrate 201, and a polarizing plate 201 is disposed on a front surface thereof with respect to the direction of incident light. A color filter/reflective layer 205 composed of a cholesteric liquid crystal layer is disposed inside a liquid crystal cell of the first substrate 207. In the case of wide viewing angle mode, a scattering film 208 is disposed in front of a polarizing plate 201 with respect to the direction of incident light.
