The engine has two crankshafts connected by a transmission train, and the undersides of the working positions act as scavenging pumps. Each pump is connected via automatic valves (3) to a common scavenger medium container (4), which also acts as charging air cooler and oil separator. The working pistons (1) run dry in the engine cylinders (10), and are connected to the cross heads (9) via single or double-jointed connecting rods (6). Power transmission elements or working machine are integrated in the transmission train.
