摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical writing unit in which the interval between an image carrier and a light emitting array substrate can be decreased by eliminating positional interference of the image carrier and the light emitting array substrate. SOLUTION: The optical writing unit comprises a light emitting element array 2 where a plurality of light emitting elements are arranged linearly such that the of outgoing optical axes are parallel with each other, and a focus element array 4 where focus elements of the same number as the plurality of light emitting elements are arranged in parallel such that the incoming optical axis Xa is parallel with the outgoing axis Xb wherein the optical path of an outgoing light beam from each light emitting element in the light emitting element array 2 is altered in the same direction by the focus element array 4 and introduced to an image carrier 5. The optical writing unit is provided with a mirror 6 for altering the optical path of an outgoing light beam from the focus element array 4. The mirror 6 for altering the optical path converges the outgoing light beam from the focus element array 4 in the sub-scanning direction.</p>
