PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve efficiency of conveying and sorting of commodities, by increasing speeds of split and merge when on-pallet piled commodities are conveyed to a pallet conveying conveyer. SOLUTION: When the on-pallet piled commodities 7 approach a branch part 3 for branching the on-pallet piled commodities 7 from a conveying conveyer 1 to a branch conveyer 2, a control unit 15 of a branching device 4 lifts up a circular-arc deflector 6, rotates respective rotation tables 8 of a plurality of skew rollers 6 by a predetermined angle, and rotates branch rollers 9 by respective predetermined rotation speeds. When the rotation speeds of the branch rollers 9 are controlled, the branch rollers 9 of the skew rollers 6 near the rotation center side is hardly rotated and the branch rollers 9 of the skew rollers 6 far from the rotation center are rotated at higher speed. The on-pallet piled commodities 7 are smoothly turned and branched without stopping them.
