FIELD EMISSION DISPLAY AND METHOD OF FABRICATING THE SAME

PURPOSE: A field emission display and a method of fabricating the display are provided which increases the emission site of a field emitter and sharpens the tip of the emitter to improve field emission characteristic and to reduce operation voltage. CONSTITUTION: A field emission display includes a cathode electrode(21) formed on a substrate(20), and a resistance layer(22) formed on the cathode electrode. An etched portion having a part of a sphere with a predetermined diameter is formed on the resistance layer. The field emission display further has an insulating layer(23) having the first hole formed on the resistance layer to expose the etched portion of the resistance layer, and a gate electrode(24) formed on the insulating layer to expose the etched portion of the resistance layer. The gate electrode has the second hole with the same diameter as the diameter of the first hole. The display also has an emitter tip(27) formed on the etched portion. The top of the emitter tip has a platform shape. The emitter tip is placed inside a gate hole formed of the etched portion, the first and second holes.
