The invention relates to a measuring device (1) comprising a movable measuri ng probe (3) and sensors (8, 14) coupled to the measuring probe (3) for providi ng position data of the measuring probe (3). The measuring probe (3) is coupled , via a cord or a wire (11), to a first sensor (14) for measuring the length o r change in length of the cord or the wire (11), and to a second sensor (8) fo r measuring an angle or angular displacement of the cord or the wire (11). The obtained position data can be graphically represented and/or be used for driving automatic machining apparatus for producing a product corresponding to the measured data.
