PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Lyophyllum shimeji strain which can commercially be produced, and to provide a method for artificially producing the Lyophyllum shimeji. SOLUTION: This Lyophyllum shimeji strain having a good ability for forming the carpophore in a culture medium containing the fruits of a plant belonging to the subfamily Panicum miliaceum. The Lyophyllum shimeji strain having a good ability for forming the carpophore in a culture medium containing the fruits of a plant belonging to the subfamily Panicum miliaceum and not having a good ability for forming the carpophore in a culture medium containing wheat and/or barley. The method for artificially culturing the Lyophyllum shimeji comprises using the above strain. The method for artificially culturing the Lyophyllum shimeji is a method using a culture medium containing the fruits of a plant belonging to the subfamily Panicum miliaceum. Thereby, the good carpophores of the Lyophyllum shimeji can be harvested in reduced days needed for transferring to a development chamber, and the Lyophyllum shimeji can commercially artificially be cultured.
