PURPOSE:To facilitate the designation of a necessary frame and to facilitate the using of a knowledge base by providing a definition frame to designate a frame group, a selecting method frame selected from a frame and a means to execute the selection by using a selecting table designated with the frame. CONSTITUTION:A selecting method frame 2 has a selecting method frame name at a frame column and has a selecting table name slot, a slot to show the constitution of a selecting table, a slot to show the selection procedure name and so on. A selecting table 3 designated by a selecting table name is the table constituted so as to show the correspondence of the selecting value and the frame name. A frame processing part 7 conveys the information of the selecting method frame 2 and the selecting value in input information to a selecting control part 4 to execute the selecting procedure of the destination specified by a selecting procedure name, starts the selection of the frame and a selecting control part 4 retrieves the frame name corresponding to the selecting value of the designation from the selecting table 3 and returns the frame name to the frame processing part 7. The frame processing part 7 processes one frame of a frame group 5 determined by the frame name delivered from the selecting control part 4 as well as the usual frame retrieving result.
