PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for identifying paper sheets with which even color copied paper sheets can be highly accurately discriminated without increasing the amount of data to be extracted from the paper sheets. SOLUTION: Concerning the method and the device for identifying paper sheets, the paper sheets are irradiated with at least two light beams having different wavelengths, transmitted or reflected light for each wavelength is detected, encoded data are formed by detecting the intensity change direction of this detected light, and the encoded data are compared and collated with prepared reference data so that truth/false can be identified. |
