A pump-breather unit (2) including a pump body (22) having a scroll or casing and a separator container (42) which includes a lower intake port (24) and an outlet port (27) not aligned with said intake port (24) and connected to pump intake, and a vent valve (26) at the top thereof. The scroll or casing (22), the separator container (42) and the vent valve (26) are monolithically integral with one another. A multi-layer grille (43) is provided in the separator container (42) designed to act as a trap for air bubbles that are present in the water fed into the separator container (42).
