The method for preparing artificial amber comprises heating and moulding colophonium (tree resin ) to the desired shape and coating it with synthetic resin. This may be an amber-coloured two-component resin. Inclusions may be inserted into the colophonium and 'sun spangles' (natural cracks in amber) may be simulated by hammering the hardened product.
