A dispensing apparatus is suitable for the reception of a cartridge containing a dispensable medium. A dispensing plunger is configured to be arranged at or in the dispensing apparatus, the dispensing plunger having an end face which acts on the cartridge for a dispensing of the medium out of the cartridge. The dispensing plunger is configured such that the end face, during the dispensing of the medium, has at least a first dispensing cross-section and subsequently has at least a second dispensing cross-section.

an end face configured to act on the collapsible cartridge to dispense the medium out of the collapsible cartridge, the dispensing plunger being configured such that the end face, while dispensing the medium, has at least a first dispensing cross-section and subsequently has at least a second dispensing cross-section.
