PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the mounting area of plural kinds of contacts arranged in two layers on an insulator and to improve terminal flatness. SOLUTION: Each of contacts 3 is composed of a contact part 3D, a press- fitted part 3E into an insulator 2, a part 3F between the press-fitted part 3E and a soldering part 3G for surface mounting, and the soldering part 3G for surface mounting. Because the step of press-fitting the contacts 3 of at least one layer into the insulator 2 is carried out at a time, the length of the soldering parts 3G for surface mounting becomes L2. In this case, a comparison of this L2 with a conventional L1 indicates L2<L1, and the mounting area of the contacts 3 on the insulator 2 becomes smaller accordingly. Consequently, it is possible to increase the mounting area of the other components or reduce the size of a plug. |
