摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance recording and reproducing characteristics by incorporating two layers consisting of a high refractive index layer having a specified range of refractive index and low refractive index layer having a specified range of low refractive index into a dielectric layer disposed in this order from a magnetic layer side. SOLUTION: This magneto-optical recording medium has a dielectric layer constituted of two layers consisting of a high refractive index layer having a refractive index of 1.8-2.4 and a low refractive index layer having a lower refractive index than that of the high refractive index layer in the range of 1.7-2.0 disposed in this order from a magnetic layer side. For example, a plurality of guide grooves 2 having 80 nm depth are formed with a 1.1μm interval on the surface of a substrate 1 consisting of a polycarbonate resin to obtain a substrate for land recording. For example, the width of the upper surface of a land part 3 between the guide grooves 2 is set to 0.9μm and a low refractive index layer consisting of SiNx (x=1.3, refractive index 1.9, thickness 50 nm) and SiNx (x=1.0, refractive index 2.2, thickness 20 nm) are laminated on this substrate as the dielectric layers by sputtering, and further the magnetic layer and a recording layer are formed.
