PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit the direct coupling to a water pipeline without employing any non-return valve by a method wherein water is supplied from a cistern connected directly to the water pipeline into a water supplying tank, in a refrigerator equipped with an automatic ice making machine for making ice while supplying water, pumped up from the water supplying tank installed in a room. SOLUTION: A cistern 53 is installed on the ceiling surface of a refrigerator 11 and is connected directly to a water pipeline 56 through a water feeding solenoid valve and a filter. The vertical movement of a float in the cistern 53 is detected by a water level switch and a control device 52 opens and closes the water feeding solenoid valve by the output of the water level switch to reserve the tap water of a predetermined level in the cistern 53. A water feeding pipeline 51 is connected to the outlet port of the cistern 53 while the water feeding pipeline 51 is communicated with the inside of a feed water tank 38. In this case, water is supplied from the cistern 53 into the feed water tank 38 through the water feeding pipeline 51. According to this method, reverse flow of water into the water pipeline can be prevented by the cistern and tap water reserved in the cistern is supplied into the feed water tank of an automatic ice making machine successively.
