PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a garbage disposer capable of rotting and volume-reducing organic waste such as garbage in a short time by mixing the organic waste with a microorganism medium where high temperature aerobic microorganisms are cultivated in a treating tank and feeding air into the tank under temperature and humidity within the applicable range. SOLUTION: An agitating spiral 18 of a vertical axis is installed at the center of a treating tank 1, and a rake-up bar 19 whose length is longer than the outside diameter of the agitating spiral 18 is horizontally fitted to the lower end part of the agitating spiral 18, and the rake-up bar 19 is turned together with the agitating spiral 18 above a gravel layer S laid on the bottom part of the treating tank 1 to agitate and circulate the microorganism medium and the garbage filled into the treating tank 1. A discharge pipe 29 provided with many through- holes on its side face and an intake pipe 21 are embedded in the gravel layer S and the treating tank bottom part is drained by the discharge pipe 20, an air feeder is connected to the intake pipe 21 to feed outdoor air into the tank, and an exhaust pipe is connected to the treating tank 1 to suck and exhaust the tank, and a sprinkler pipe is installed in the treating tank 1. When that humidity in the tank is lower than the lower limit of the proper range is detected by a humidity sensor, or when the moisture content of the microorganism medium is lower than the lower limit of the proper range, water is sprayed from the sprinkler pipe to keep the humidity in the tank or the moisture content of the microorganism medium in the proper range.
