PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device capable of calculating a picture quality evaluation value corresponding to a subjectivity evaluation value while using any arbitrary image. SOLUTION: Source image data 100 are printed out by an image output device 20 for an evaluation object and an output image 110 for evaluation is formed. This output image 110 is read by an image input part 13 and a pixel position detecting part 17 obtains an image starting point to be a reference for reading the output image 110 so as to most improve the coefficient of correlation between the provided input image and the source image data 100. With this image starting point as a reference, the output image 110 is read again from the image input part 13 with the same resolution as the source image data 100 and this read result and the source image data 100 are converted to the L*a*b* table color system of CIE by a signal converting part 15. Then, an evaluation value calculating part 19 obtains a color difference between the source image data 100 and the read result for each pixel from the difference of these converted results and obtains the square root average of the color difference for each pixel as an image evaluation value. |
