PURPOSE: A device and a method for capturing portrait are provided to capture portrait, which is harmonious between a thing pictured and a background by varying a range of photographing screen according to a size of the thing pictured and the number of persons. CONSTITUTION: A method for capturing portrait includes the steps of measuring a distance from a thing pictured according to the selection of photographing motion, setting a position for moving a hard packing according to the distance from the thing pictured, measuring a size of the thing captured, setting a range of photographing screen according to the size of the thing captured and indicating the set range of photographing screen on a finder, and moving the hard packing to the set hard packing position and capturing portrait according to the set range of photographing screen.
