PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate the solution of trapping of low visibility by providing respective processors converting a divided printing color, deciding the visibility of printing deviation and changing a picture. SOLUTION: A picture processing unit 116 includes a trapping processor 118 executing correction for a trap formed at the edge of a color. This processor 118 is provided with a color conversion processor converting the divided copying color to a new color space in which an equivalent color difference in the human perception of a color is a nearly equal value, an visible processor deciding the visibility of the optionally generated printing deviation concerning individual pairs of colors in the new color space and a picture correcting processor suited to changing the picture received for trapping by the trapping processor. Then, when a pair of colors to be trapped are given, the visibility of printing deviation is checked to decide whether the printing deviation becomes visible or not. When the printing deviation is likely to become visible, a color to insert is selected and the place where the trap should be placed is decided.
