PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive landslide detection device which can maintain the precision of a rotary encoder as it is and which can he installed in any simple site in terms of structure. SOLUTION: A detection device detects the extension/contraction of a wire which is to detect landslide and is stretched between two detached points A and B so that prescribed tension is maintained and it detects a landslide state. Plural pulleys 2 and 3 which rotate in proportion to the degree of extension/ contraction in accordance with the extension/contraction of the wire 1 and whose diameters differ are arranged. Rotary encoders 2A and 3A are disposed for detecting the rotation of the pulleys are installed for the respective pulleys 2 and 3.
