A chlorine dioxide generator is disclosed which comprises a sheet having a coating therein in which coating is dispersed a material which, in the presence of moisture, releases chlorine dioxide. In one form the coating is on one surface of a single sheet. In another form the coating is between two sheets and laminates the two sheets together. One or both of the sheets can have a second coating on that face thereof which is remote from the coating that laminates the sheets together.
