The machine has a rotor and a stator (1). The stator has multiple slots (11) for the windings, with teeth (12) separating the slots. Some at least of the teeth have at the end facing the rotor an arc shaped cut-out (122) at the radial centre line of the tooth. This serves to reduce magnetically generated acoustic noise.
