PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the burden on the hands to hold a vegetable which gradually becomes smaller and hard to hold when the vegetable is grated using a grater, or is thinly cut using a slicer or the like, and at the same time, prevent danger wherein the hand holding the vegetable is injured by accidentally touching acute protuberances of the grater or a cutter of the slicer, from occurring, and in addition, continue the work even when the vegetable becomes too small to be held by hand. SOLUTION: A vegetable is fixed to this vegetable grating assisting utensil having a gripping part 1, a supporting part 2 and a vegetable fixing part 3, and a user does not have to directly hold the vegetable by holding the gripping part 1. By this method, the work can be continued even with a vegetable which becomes small, and the burden of hand holding the vegetable is reduced, and at the same time, the skin of the hand is prevented from being injured by rubbing the hand to the grater or the slicer.
