PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an antilipemic agent having excellent antilipemic action therapeutic and preventing effects on arteriosclerosis, having safety free from adverse effect by including a specific phenylimidazole compound as an active ingredient. SOLUTION: This antilipemic agent contains a phenylimidazole compound of formula I [R1 is H or a 1-6C alkyl; X is C(=O) or SO2; A is a group of formula II and B is a group of formula III (R2, R3, R6 and R7 are each H, cyano, hydroxyl or the like; R4 and R5 are each H, a 1-6C alkyl, a haloalkyl or the like; (p) and (r) are each 0 or 1-6; (q) is 0 or 1); Y is O, S, SO or the like; (l) is 0 or 1; D is a (substituted) phenyl, naphthyl or the like; R11 is a halogen, a 1-6C alkyl or the like; (m) is 0 or 1-3] or one or more of its pharmacologically acceptable salts as an active ingredient. For example, a daily dose effective for treatment is about 0.14 - about 14.3 mg of the compound of formula I per kg weight.
