PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reference metal measure device to machine all the six surfaces of a work without exchanging a reference metal measure, in a machine tool, such as a double-ended milling machine. SOLUTION: A reference metal measure device 24 is provided with a fixed reference metal measure 62 and a pair of moving reference metal measures 64 arranged on both sides thereof. The moving reference metal measure 64 is elevated by a cam mechanism driven by a hydraulic cylinder 68. By positioning the moving metal measure 64 such that the moving support surface 64A of the moving metal measure is positioned flush with the fixed support surface 62A of the fixed reference metal measure, a work piece is longitudinally stably clamped. By lowering the support surface 64A of the moving reference metal measure to a level lower than that of the support surface 62A of the fixed reference metal measure, a plate-form work piece is clamped in the direction of thickness.
