<p>Foaming a slag covering of a bath of molten steel involves blowing oxygen to the surface of the bath and injecting carbon into the slag. At least part of the carbon comes from soot produced in the incomplete combustion of hydrocarbons, the carbon content of the soot being 50-90% by weight.</p> |
