The invention relates to methods of altering the activity of the PKA signali ng pathway by altering, preferably inhibiting, the extent of phosphorylation of PKA substrates or downstream kinase substrates, particularly by the use of modified substrates, gene sequences encoding such modified substrates, vecto rs and host cells containing the gene sequence, inhibitors of substrate phosphorylation and use of the gene sequence, protein or inhibitors to alter the PKA signaling pathway, for example in treating immunosuppressive disorde rs or proliferative diseases.
