PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resin composition excellent in hue and mechanical properties by mixing a polyphenylene ether resin comprising a polyphenylene ether resin and a thermoplastic resin other than the polyphenylene ether with a transition metal oxide and/or a transition metal acid salt in a specified ratio. SOLUTION: There is provided a resin composition prepared by compounding 100 pts.wt. polyphenylene ether resin comprising 100-5 wt.% polyphenylene ether resin and 0-95 wt.% thermoplastic resin selected among a polyamide resin, a styrene resin, etc., with 0.01-10 pts.wt. transition metal oxide and/or a transition metal acid salt. The polyphenylene ether resin is exemplified by poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylele) ether or a copolymer of 2,6-dimethyplheonl with 2,3,6-trimethylphenol. The transition metal oxide and the transition metal acid salt have mean particle diameter of 80μm or below and are selected among WO3 , Na2 WO4 , CaWO4 , CaMoO4 , etc.
