Solar energy absorption and heating panel

The efficiency of a solar heating panel (4) is improved by fitting a transparent cover (6) open at the bottom edge (6A) of the sloping fitting, and closed at the top and sides. An internal transparent wall (5) divides the space into a first space (1) between the wall and the panel and a second space (2) between the wall and the cover. A gap (11) at the top edge of the wall connects the two air spaces. If the solar panel is cooler than the air in the first air space it cools the air and causes it to flow down drawing in warm air from the top air space in a continuous heat transfer to the panel. If the solar panel is warmer than the air in the first space it warms the air which rises to be trapped under the cover to form an insulating layer to reduce further heat loss.
