PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the sharp writing magnetic field by realizing the good magnetic characteristic of a metal magnetic thin film in direct as the magnetic characteristic of magnetic head because the metal magnetic thin film formed on the I-shaped core is not deteriorated by the inclined vacuum deposition effect through employment of a magnetic head which is formed by the I-shaped core and C-shaped core forming a winding groove and particularly having a metal magnetic thin film for the I-shaped core. SOLUTION: The I-shaped core 1 of the MIG type magnetic head consisting of the I-shaped core 1 and the C-shaped core 3 forming a winding groove 7 has a composite metal magnetic thin film core in which thickness of the metal magnetic thin film 3 near the magnetic operation gap 5 riding over the winding groove 7 of the C-shaped core 2 is 1μm or more but 3μm or less and thickness of the metal magnetic thin film of the other portion is 8μm or more but 32μm or less. Therefore, winding is wound around only the I-shaped core.
