Element and system for collecting, transporting and saving analytical samples

An element for collecting, transporting and storing analytical sample material comprises first and second layers of absorbent matrix material (AMM), placed in contact with each other on an inert carrier material in a way allowing passage of liquid. The liq. can pass from the 1st layer to the 2nd when the 1st layer is filled with liq. After applying and drying the sample, the 1st layer can be completely sepd. from the 2nd. Also claimed are a system comprising an element as above and a closable casing in which the element can be transported; and a method for analysing a liq. sample, by applying the sample to the first AMM layer of an element as above, allowing the sample to dry, transporting the element to an analysis station, separating the first AMM layer from the second, eluting the sample from the AMM and analysing the soln.
