<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the load of general activated sludge treatment remarkably at a low cost by performing the aerobic microorganism treatment of waste liquid containing terephthalic acid at a temperature in a specified range. SOLUTION: Waste liquid from a terephthalic acid production process and the alkali reducing processing process of polyester fibers is added to the culture medium of a microorganism source obtained by using soil, compost, sludge, etc., and bacteria are cultivated aerobically at 40-70 deg.C, after the growth of the bacteria being recognized. A part of the bacteria is transferred to a new culture medium, and the cultivation is continued further. The work is repeated many times, and microorganisms involved in the decomposition of terephthalic acid are collected and treated. In this way, terephthalic acid can be decomposed stably and efficiently, and the load of general activated sludge treatment can be reduced remarkably at a low cost.</p> |
