PURPOSE: To improve the heat-resistant adhesivity to a rubber by coating a polyester fiber with a treating liquid containing an RF resin and a vinylpyridine- conjugated diene copolymer latex first to a thin layer and then to a thick layer and treating the coated fiber with a treating liquid having decreased content of the pyridine. CONSTITUTION: A polyester fiber is coated with a treating liquid composed of an RF resin(resorcinol-formaldehyde resin) and a vinylpyridine-conjugated diene copolymer latex (vinylpyridine content: V1 wt.%) to thinly apply the treating liquid in an amount of 0.05-1 wt.% owf (solid basis) as a 1st coating step and then apply the liquid in an amount of >=2 wt.% as a 2nd coating step. The coated fiber is further treated with a treating liquid containing an RF resin and a vinylpyridine-conjugated diene copolymer having a vinylpyridine content of V2 wt.% (V1 -V2 >=10 wt.%). The process gives an initial adhesivity comparable or superior to the adhesivity attainable by conventional method, suppresses the increase of the stiffness of fiber and improves the heat-resistant adhesivity. The treated fiber is suitable for tire, belt, or the like. |
