PURPOSE: To realize the honeycomb body, which can be securely pressed into an outer cylinder, by strengthening the peripheral part of a honeycomb body so as to improve the contact resistance, and to realize the manufacture of the metal carrier using this honeycomb body. CONSTITUTION: In the honeycomb body 1, which is formed by alternately winding a metal flat foil and a metal waved foil for lamination, the most outside periphery is formed of a metal flat foil 13, and at least one circumference of the most outside flat foil and a waved foil 14 are welded to each other for fixation at plural positions in the circumference so as to form the honeycomb body 1 having the strong contact resistance. This honeycomb body 1 is pressed into an outer cylinder 2. Welding of the flat foil and the waved foil at plural positions are desirably performed at honeycomb peripheral length/ welding fixation pitch >=3. |
